Surexposition is an urban installation, pulsating in the sky, with an intense beam of white light. These light signals, given off by a large black monolith and visible all over the city, are Morse code messages, sent by everyone, to everyone and to the sky, via smartphones. This monolith rests on a carpet of data: a map projected onto the ground, reflecting the city-wide use of cell-phones. Returning to the very essence of Morse, the messages are then transformed into a sound composition, broadcast by the installation, as well as by the public’s smartphones. A momentary community forms and is transformed, as the event beats on.

Group-exhibition exploring the semantic of numbers, where all of the works selected feature number logics and / or constructs, from concrete to abstract, from visually to sculpturally: from artworks using mathematical proportions in its compositions, such as the Fibonacci series or the golden ratio, over artworks using numeric display techniques such as nixies or ascii, to artworks contemplating the hexadecimal logic.

The Société is an exhibition platform located in the former 'Société Bruxelloise d'Electricité', a factory constructed in the 30s of the past century. The platform hosts several spaces dedicated to contemporary art.

"Towards Behavioral Objects: A Twofold Approach for a System of Notation to Design and Implement Behaviors in Non-anthropomorphic Robotic Artifacts"

Samuel Bianchini (EnsadLab), Florent Levillain (CHArt-Lutin - Univ. Paris 8), Emanuele Quinz (EnsadLab - Univ. Paris 8), Armando Meniccaci (UQAM), Elisabetta Zibetti (CHArt-Lutin - Univ. Paris 8), in Jean-Paul Laumond and Naoko Abe (eds), Dance Notations and Robot Motion, Springer International Publishing, 2016.

How and why to write a movement? Who is the writer? Who is the reader? They may be choreographers working with dancers. They may be roboticists programming robots. They may be artists designing cartoons in computer animation. In all such fields the purpose is to express an intention about a dance, a specific motion or an action to perform, in terms of intelligible sequences of elementary movements, as a music score that would be devoted to motion representation. Unfortunately there is no universal language to write a motion. Motion languages live together in a Babel tower populated by biomechanists, dance notators, neuroscientists, computer scientists, choreographers, roboticists. Each community handles its own concepts and speaks its own language.

The book accounts for this diversity. Its origin is a unique workshop held at LAAS-CNRS in Toulouse in 2014. Worldwide representatives of various communities met there. Their challenge was to reach a mutual understanding allowing a choreographer to access robotics concepts, or a computer scientist to understand the subtleties of dance notation. The liveliness of this multidisciplinary meeting is reflected by the book thank to the willingness of authors to share their own experiences with others.
